Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved to read. I was constantly asking my parents to help me read a new book I got at school each day. When I got to junior high my favorite books to read were scary mysteries by R.L. Stine, I was obsessed. I had a new book of his at least once a week, if not more. I never read any of his Goosebumps series though.
In High school I got into the more girly books and romance novels like ones by Nicholas Sparks. “Message in a Bottle” was one of my favorites and I read “the Notebook” in one day, the book is MUCH better than the movie. I read all of the Gossip Girl series just like every other girl, I’m sure. I also read a ton of Sarah Dessen’s books such as “Just Listen”, “The Truth about Forever” And “This Lullaby”.
Even now, I still read every single day. Whether it’s a magazine, a novel, or required reading for school - I am reading. I love to read, I think it’s really relaxing… I can’t really get into a book unless it interests me though. It takes me a long time to read a book that I don’t like… I usually end up going back a few times and rereading parts that I couldn’t pay attention to because they were boring to me. Also, I don’t get to read as much as I like to during school because I’m so busy, so that kind of sucks but hopefully the books for this class will be good ones that make me not want to put the book down. I honestly don’t like the Harry Potter series, I tried to read the 1st book once and gave up because it just didn’t catch my interest. I’m currently reading the twilight series, of course. I’m only on the second book but I’m planning on finishing it before the movie comes out in November!

Hey Jessy! I figured since you commented my blog that I would comment yours as well! I agree with you that reading a book that doesn’t catch my interest is terribly hard. I usually try to find some aspect of it that is interesting. For me it’s usually a character that I try to make a connection with or something I can relate to them about. That way the book goes by faster or at least I can get through it easier. I, too, tried reading Harry Potter, but could never quite finish the series. I read the first three books however and they were fairly enjoyable, but the fourth one was too long and strung out. I like books that get to the point and not dwell on little things. I hope we do get to read some interesting books in this class, I enjoy the class so far and am looking forward to what it brings! By the way I think I’m going to read “The Notebook”, cause I liked the movie so I’m sure I’ll love the book!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I love your taste in books! I can remember reading all the Nicholas Sparks books in junior high and thought they were pretty good. R.L. Stein was another phase I also had, even thought I find it weird that you never read the Goosebumps series since that seemed to be such a fad back in the day.
